David Mcdonald Managing Director David has extensive property and commercial business experience.
From 1990 to 2003 David worked at Phillips Fox & Williams & Hughes. David has been preparing and negotiating commercial leases since 1995. He has experience in drafting land purchase documentation, agreements to lease, offers to lease, negotiating and drafting leases for major tenants and acted for developers and the landlords of various shopping centre. His commercial experience includes drafting franchise agreements, business sale agreements, mortgages, loan finance and floating charges and trust deeds. David also has extensive experience drafting Wills, including testamentary trust provisions and Enduring Powers of Attorney. David has been a member of the board of the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce.
Steve Pynt Director Steven obtained his law degree from the University of Western Australia in 1980 and through part time studies has since gained a Bachelor of Business degree (accounting), an MBA and a Master of Taxation Studies.
He is a director of McDonald Pynt Lawyers practicing mainly in the areas of contract, property and corporations law. Prior to establishing the firm, he was a partner in the firm Healy Pynt. He is a member of the Racing Penalties Appeals Tribunal, the non-executive director of three listed public companies, and the finance director of a major private Western Australian recruitment company and Muzz Buzz. Steven also assists in the management of the Gladstones and Koolama vineyards in the Manjimup region, which he also holds interests in.
Barry Stark LLB Director Admitted to practice in 1981, Barry has extensive local and international experience gained from providing solutions to a broad range of clients, from small businesses to listed companies. His main areas of practice are commercial law, property law, franchising and mining law.
Tim James Senior Solicitor Tim James is our estate planning Solicitor who brings a wealth of experience to the position. Prior to his role with McDonald Pynt he headed up Estate planning at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He was also the Manager of Estate Planning at National Australia Trustees for a number of years. He has over twenty years experience as a Solicitor and has always had a special interest in Wills, Powers of Attorney and Deceased Estates. He is married to Family Law Specialist and has two children. He enjoys living in Fremantle and is actively involved in community affairs
andrew foster Senior Solicitor Andrew joined the firm after practicing as a senior lawyer in the Northern Territory for the past two years. Prior to practicing in the Territory Andrew was principle of his own firm in Sydney, New South Wales for twelve years, practicing primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, property law, insolvency, criminal law and personal injury. Andrew has also practiced in the areas of Industrial and Consumer Law and has extensive advocacy experience in Industrial, Consumer and Tenancy Courts and Tribunals.
Being an experienced advocate who is admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia and having practiced in the Northern Territory, The ACT, New South Wales and Western Australia, Andrew can offer over twenty years of practicing experience to clients in a variety of areas. Andrew has also lectured and tutored in legal studies and evidence law at Charles Sturt University's Goulburn campus (NSW Police Academy) in New South Wales.
Alya began her legal career with Gibson and Gibson before leaving in 2001 to take up the position of Sole Legal Counsel for a leading information technology company in Hong Kong. In addition to specialising in a challenging and modern field of law, Alya completed her Arts Degree with MurdochUniversity whilst overseas. She and her family returned to their beloved home of Fremantle six years later. Alya has been happy to bring her experience and ability in commercial and international matters to McDonald Pynt Lawyers and our clients. She can also be relied upon to know the latest Sevens results.

Joseph has extensive experience in all areas of taxation law and corporate/commercial law with an impressive background of positions in prominent taxation and commercial law firms in Melbourne and Perth. Prior to entering legal practice, Joseph worked as an investment banker in corporate finance, privatisation and project finance for four years. Joseph also worked in Corporate Recovery & Insolvency at Ernst & Young for a year. Most recently, Joseph practiced with a Perth firm that specialises in taxation law, gaining valuable experience in contested taxation matters. Stephanie Wright LLB Solicitor Stephanie joined McDonald Pynt Lawyers in March 2007. She completed a Science degree, majoring in Environmental Health, at the Curtin University of Technology in 2002 and a degree in Law at the University of Notre Dame in 2005. She has varied experience in property and commercial law matters and is a member of Women Lawyers of Western Australia. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys listening to music and spending time with her family and friends.
Sonia Chee LLB, B.Com (hons) Solicitor Sonia holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Western Australia. Sonia was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2008. Prior to joining McDonald Pynt Lawyers, Sonia worked as a procurement consultant in the Department of Treasury and Finance (WA) and was involved in high profile projects. Sonia is fluent in both spoken and written Chinese (Mandarin) and in conversational Cantonese. Her main areas of practice are commercial law, trust, probate and letters of administration, and deceased estate administration.
BObbie Wescott Settlement Agent Bobbie joined McDonald Pynt Lawyers in May 2003 who has extensive property settlement experience and has worked in the legal profession since 1997. Bobbie is a Licensed Settlement Agent and is also the Manager of Complete Property Settlements which began in May 2005 (the settlements division of McDonald Pynt Lawyers). Bobbie manages all property settlements both sale and purchase for commercial, vacant, strata and residential contracts.
MICHAEL CHRISTIE Solicitor Michael joined McDonald Pynt in February 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts (Politics and International Studies) from Murdoch University. Michael was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2009. He has varied experience in property and commercial matters and holds a particular interest in mediation. Michael has a love for the Fremantle area and in his spare time enjoys watching Aussie Rules and spending time with family and friends.

Directors use of EPA's 27/05/2010 A company director cannot use an Enduring Power of Attorney or a standard Power of Attorney for the purposes of appointing someone to execute documents on behalf of the company because the role of a director is one of the few things you can't delegate: see Mancini v Mancini [1999] NSWSC 799 (6 August 1999).
